| Permits are up all over, so is gun sales. I went to the range with wife and neighbor lady from down the block today. There was a thick petition sheet for CC on the counter so I was talking to the range guy, and said I'll sign it and asked him if it mattered . he said it was the closest it has ever been in this rat hole state so I had the wife and Kelly my neighbor sign it too. by the way it was Kelly's first time shooting, I started both of them off with the 22s, then asked if they would like to try my Sig P 250 and they did, Then my CZ 85 Combat and they did. Then my Colt Commander and they did. Anthusiatic and with great zeal. And both hit center mass most of the time. Kelly did exceptional with the 45 with a nice clover leaf just a half inch from the bull. I told her she needed to take the NRA safety course they have there. On the way home she showed me their brochure and asked me many questions about applying for the permits needed. I was again very proud of the 2 of them. Kelly is much younger than us and I think of her as a niece or daughter. I think I have a convert. She enjoyed it very much. My wife did also both asking be what else I had brought to shoot. They want to do my 357s now. | |

| Keep working on them. The more the merrier. It does make a difference. The more folks understand that the handgun is not the problem, it is the people that pick them up and do dirty ugly things with them that are the problem!!! The more females that shoot and understand the gun is not that hard to handle the better off the gun community is. It makes more impact when a woman stands up and says I use a handgun for self defense and I shoot regularly! Powerful stuff!! Good going, UF!! | |

| The down side is the cost of guns/ammo and related equipment went through the roof. | |

| When the unprecedented demand hit, the prices did go up. The good thing now is that some of the demand has softened and the supply is finally catching up. With that the prices have stabilized and although they have not dropped by much, the prices have not continued the spiral upwards. I am seeing the prices hanging pretty steady for a change and that to me is good news! | |

| AO, I agree that the prices for ammo seem to have stabilized and most shops seem to have a good level of inventory. But, we've still got a war going on so that'll be the next excuse for why prices aren't dropping back to where they were four/five years ago. | |

| I agree with that. I do not see the prices ever dropping back to where they were four or five years ago. At lease the steady increase in prices has slowed drastically for me. As a retailer in handguns that in itself is some good news. that at least means I can confidently order a gun and it come in on an invoice at the same price I ordered it for. It used to not be that way! I can now get any size and caliber ammo that I want or need and most of the handguns I stock and sell are available within a reasonable time. It still takes many weeks to months to get Kimbers, unless I can find a stockinig dealer that has one sitting on the shelf. The SA XD's and XDM's are plentiful excpet in the 45's. Even at that the 45's usually show up within four weeks. That is not too bad considering. Most others you have best not order unless you are ready for them to be shippedthe next day! | |

| I agree prices will not go down. I think dealers are stocking more than they used to because of the last year and a half. I getting ready to reload now that the cool weather is here. I have bags of brass that is screaming to be reborn. Now with the girls shooting I will do it a little sooner. they will have to shoot the 22s mostly, and they are happy with that. but I will pull something out of the range bag that thay can play with. Mostly 9mm I got a good deal this spring, some of the finest reloaded 9mm for $8 a bag of 50 from a guy from Pennsyvania. Needless to say I bought quite a few bags. the 45s I'll pull out on occasion for them but I mostly shoot them after work on fridays or after I see ma on saturdays. As for as firearms New Jersey prices are extreme and the sales tax 7% down right sucks. so I've been buying my firearms on Gun Broker. they have much better prices. the pink Sig I got for my wife for exampe cost me $309 on GB at the local shops, one in which my cousin owns (no family discounts) the same Sig goes for $380 with sales tax thats $403 and change plus the NICS. Thats a big saveings, although I pay for the ffl $25 and then the NICS | |

| You have to pay for the NICS in addition to the cost of the gun? I didn't know a FFL could charge for doing the NICS check! | |

| The ffl calls NICS with my information, they do the check and when I'm approved the ffl gives me my firearm and I get charged for the spot check. I pay the ffl and he sends it in to the State Police. It's $15 or $25 per check. It's all money, you want something you pay. | |

| If I sell the firearm, I do not charge anything for the NICS check! If I have one transfered in where all I do is run it through my paperwork, I do charge for that because I have to maintain the records on that transfer for 20 years!!! I get $25 for handguns and $30 for rifles. If it is someone that has been through my class, I discount it to half price! | |

| Naw! I was happy until I found out others were charging for what we do for free!! Why can't I do that? Well maybe I can! LMAO! I am not changing the pricing and I am not going to start to charge for doing that. I got my FFL so I could play with the guns and I am not trying to make a living or feed a family from the receipts!! SO THERE, I will remain one ofo the less expensive optioins!!! LMAO! | |

| I possess an original Colt SP1 in 223! I purchased it new in the late 70's and it has had about 1K rounds through it! I have been offered obscene amounts of money for it and it is not for sale. I will let you shoot it, fondle it and maybe take it to bed for a nap, not all night but just a nap!! LMAO! | |

| I think it's only due to market demand that in a metropolitan area like Detroit that the prices would be higher. | |

| I think you are correct in your assuption....the metropolitan areas typically have more money to spend? Also the more people supply and demand kicks in. | |

| More population means more people living there and more guns wanted! I would think that would drive the prices down for more market competition! That is what happens down here! When there is more demand for something as long as the supply of it holds out, it gets cheaper. When you can't get it the price oges through the roof. That might be what is going on up there if the guns are harder to get! | |

| This is interesting----what did it cost you guys for your original CC license? The state of Michigan charged me $300, plus an additional $20 for the photos. I haven't had to renew it yet but I'm sure it must be cheaper. | |
