| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Famine: 'Hundreds of thousands of kids could die' DADAAB, Kenya (AP) -- Hundreds of thousands of Somali children could die in East Africa's famine unless more help arrives, a top U.S. official warned Monday in the starkest death toll prediction yet. To highlight the crisis, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden visited a refugee camp filed with hungry Somalis. Jill Biden is the highest-profile U.S. visitor to East Africa since the number of refugees coming across the Somali border dramatically increased in July. Biden, who traveled to the camp in a C-130 military transport plane, said she wants to raise awareness and persuade donors to give more. I totally understand the humanitarian arguments and side to sending relief to these folks. However, when we cannot even pay our own bills we have no business becoming involved in another country's inner conflicts and furthering war efforts in another country. This is ridiculous yo begin an effort to offer humanitarian aid to a country that has been attacking our ships and citizens that sail in the waters near their country. What we should do is go down there and waste the whole bunch of terrorists creating the problem and turn the country back over to the people that are being killed and leave. Never setting foot in their country other than to waste the idiots pulling this crap or just stay out all together and not get involved in another country's civil war! We have problems that need our money and our attention back here right now! JMHO! | |

| What's happening here is part of a larger scale annual process there, it's nothing new. But again it's the media trying to manipulate people into being so grateful for what they have here in the USA. Don't get me wrong here, I'm very grateful for the circumstances under which I was born into however, I didn't make the choice to be born here. I'm very protective of what we have but I'm not an isolationist, the world won't work that way. On the other hand, I agree that we need to "pay ourselves first" as many noted economists advise us about our personal financial situations. In my opinion it's pretty much the same thing. | |

| The more I read and researched this particular situation the more I realized that it has been going on for over twenty years. There is always the same plea, help feed the children but there is an increase int he population there every year! Even though they cannot feed the ones that are there! Maybe it is time that survival of the fittest took care of the situation because 20 + years of humanitarian aid has done nothing but make it worse instead of better!! | |

| I agree with you on this. The major problem is their governments, maybe twenty years or so ago we should have ousted these brutal leaders and put in place a government that was for their people and not for how much power and wealth they had obtained. There are some countries that have been starving for more that twenty years because of drought. In these situations we should have given them the working knowledge to move water from one region to one that is lacking, and to protect them from their waring neighboring tribes. This country has had a violent history of thousands of years. Until they can be convinced that brotherly love is a natural way of life and not using a machete on the head of the household and their sons and taking their daughters for sex slaves and or indentured servents. I often wondered just how much of the funds the U.S. really gets to those people and how much is filtered into their respective political parties. | |

| Most is trapped into the rebels and furnishing them guns and ammo and other tools of war! They ravage and take what they want when ever they want. Unless we are willing to move in and take control we need to stay the hell out!!! JMHO!! | |

Like you just said, "we need to stay the hell out!!!" This is the natural order of things in these countries, survival of the fittest. We can't feed the whole world but once we started in, for political reasons, we were stuck. We have Ambassadors in almost every country in the world and they need to just keep their mouths shut when meeting with foreign leaders. Unfortunately they can't do that because they think they are Christ, risen again, to save these countries and make them beholding to the USA. Knock it off! | |

| I dont think it will ever change. I think much American $$$$$s is filtered away from where it is supposed to go. Maybe right back to the people that are sending it. There is so much money that is controlled by the politicians and the people put in place to oversee the distribution, that how could anyone not be tempted to skim the top. Many ambassadors are just government spies, working with or working for the CIA. It is a good place to hear and find information critcal to the spy networks survival. Many deals are set in place whether good or bad by these appointed individuals. | |

| Consider! If we were taking care of our own and not involved in 3rd world countries and their politics trying to buy friendship and allies, what difference would the intell make? NONE!! Cut the crap, get out of the business of trying to be the world's salvation and take care of our business back home as it should be! JMHO!! | |

| Ah! The other thing I could not come up with the other day when posting this was you cannot take care of someone else before you get to the point where you can take care of yourself! No truer words were ever spoken! People trying to take care of a friend or relative and it is a tremendous burden for them to take care of themselves!! Doesn't make sense does it!! | |

| When the bubble bursts it will not be pretty! Have not understood what they have to gain when they destroy all that is here! There is an agenda and I an certain they are intent on destroying what we have but there is no reason I have come up with that shows they have gained something when they destroy our way of life! It is our way of life that supports their ignorance. What will they do if that is no longer there for them to be a parasite? | |

| I was thinking of this this am when traveling to mom's house. If they take away capitalism and obtain all the wealth of the world, then what is left. It makes no sense to me. If you have all the wealth of the world, is it worth anything? It only becomes an object of no worth. Iam I wrong with my assumption? | |

| Appears from that logic they are destroying exactly what they are trying to gain control over? I am like you and do not exactly understand the program just yet! | |

| There is so much there that needs to be done away with but we have to start somewhere! If not now, when? If not here, where? If not them, who? It is way past time to start straightening this mess out and cutting out this unnecessary crap!!! Only the ones that contribute nothing and want everything are in favor of continuing this and it is time to stop it! Right now!!! | |

| AO--how about if you ran for the POTUS and I'll be your running mate. After all, we couldn't screw things up any more than what they are now any way. | |
